PC AMERICA ADDS NEW TECHNOLOGY TO CASH REGISTER EXPRESS TO KEEP CASH REGISTERS RINGING EVEN WHEN THE SERVER IS DOWN

Congers, NY, June 4th, 2003 - A retail store's worst nightmare is a cash register going down in the midst of holiday shopping. pcAmerica has solved that problem with its newly created "synchronicity" point of sale server software.

Until now, if the server computer of a point of sale system crashed, all the cash registers went along with it, meaning customers cannot buy product. On June 30th, however, storeowners can have peace of mind with the new Enterprise Edition of Cash Register Express, the Windows based point of sale system from pcAmerica. The new release has built in redundancy, allowing the cash registers to function independently even if the server is down.

"One in twenty stores experience a system crash per year, the majority of them due to a server crash or a problem with the network or power, " says David Gosman, the senior project manager of pcAmerica. "Customers can't buy from you if all of your cash registers are down. Cash Register Express now includes automatic redundancy, allowing your cashiers to continue ringing up customers, even when the server is down."

Each cash register will continue to run indefinitely while the server is down, and automatically synchronize with the others when the server is back up. Cashiers will not be affected by the problems, and a manager can resolve the server issues at their leisure.

Cash Register Express, a point of sale system to replace cash registers in retail stores and restaurants, is available directly from pcAmerica (www.pcamerica.com.) Sales history, inventory tracking, customer loyalty and Internet credit card processing are all built in. The software is $ 1295, or between $ 1500 and $ 3000 per lane with full hardware setup.
