pcAmerica Computerizes Rositas Mexican Restaurant “Computerizing has increased our sales by 20% without raising prices.”
Rositas, located at 8050 Federal Blvd., Westminster CO 80031, is a family owned business established in 1963. Rositas mainly serves new Mexico style Mexican food with some of their own inventions such as the Pablito (stuffed sopapilla). Please take a look at their menu and web site at: http://www.rosiitas.biz/index.html
Chris Gallegos, owner of Rositas, decided to upgrade his previous POS system to Restaurant Pro Express because he needed a more flexible, easier to use system. A big problem with restaurants is the variance in handwriting by servers. Many tickets are difficult to read or inaccurate. Using a computer and sending orders directly to the kitchen makes the restaurant far more efficient and accurate.
According to Gallegos, “Computerizing has increased our sales by 20% without raising prices. Our system was paid for in less than 6 months by having tighter control over what comes out of our kitchen and increased accuracy on customer checks. Changing prices, adding items, and changing menus are all easy to use. Restaurant Pro Express with a touch screen is very user friendly and easily mastered by new employees. The stationary yellow buttons that I can program to my personal needs works great in my operation.”
“Compared to what we had, RPE has brought us out of the dark ages” (Vince, Manager). “Super easy to use!!” (George, Waiter).
As you can see, Rositas is a very happy user and a valued pcAmerica customer. Any business that has been around since 1963 deserves recognition, especially a restaurant. Only 25% of all restaurants remain open after a year in business. 60% of all restaurants close within six years. Cost control is essential for a restaurant and most restaurants report a 25% increase in billing once computerized. Rositas has a web site which is extremely important to businesses. Web sites do not have to be elaborate. Rositas Web Site is very functional and an asset to the business. And, of course, finally and most importantly, it is Rositas food quality that makes it so popular (Rositas has a 4 station computer system).

A Great Idea for Maximizing In-Store Potential
“Chains are growing sales by counting their traffic.”
According to an article in Chain Store Age (Magazine), “Today, many store owners view a 0% increase as a victory—-they didn’t lose market share. Given this situation, it seems completely unrealistic to talk about a 5%, 10% or even 20% increase in sales. Yet, that’s what some chains are achieving. How? They count their traffic.”
pcAmerica has not yet computerized Target or Walmart. However, we can learn from the big guys.
Many store managers believe that 80% of all customers entering the store made a purchase. The reality is that somewhere between 12% and 20% of customers walking into a store are converted into a sale.
Let’s say your store converts 20% of all customers walking into your store. If you could increase your conversion rate to 25%, that’s a 25% increase in sales. Some chain stores are doing it by talking to their customers and discovering what they must do to increase their sales to the 80% who may not make a purchase.
Search google.com for “store traffic counters.” We found one Web Site offering a $129 traffic counter (http://www.sensourceinc.com/basicpeoplecounters.htm). Depending on quality and features, the price of traffic counters can range from $129 to over $2,000. That’s a small price to pay if you use it to increase your sales by 25%.
So here’s the challenge. Use a traffic counter to monitor the number of customers entering your store. Compare the traffic entering your store to the number of sales you make. Now, just figure out how to sell to the 80% of your customer leaving your store without a purchase. Sell to a few more customers and you have a 25% increase in sales.
pcAmerica constantly monitors it’s advertising dollars. We place full page ads in PC World, PC Magazine, Computer Shopper and some retail specific magazines. We monitor the number of calls that we receive and the amount of calls that are converted into sales. Our best customers are those customers who call on the phone. Your best customers are those who walk into your store.
#2 of 10 Essential Things You Must Know About Your Computer
Last week we discussed the Maxtor II One Touch Backup System. The Maxtor II is capable of backing up massive amounts of data (200 GB and more).
Remember, if you lose your data, it’s your fault. If you don’t know too much about computers, you still need to take responsibility for backing up your data. If you are not computer literate, you need to get help from a computer capable person who can show you how to properly back up your system. It’s not difficult. But sometimes it takes a 10 minute lesson from a computer mentor. You just have to do it.
This week, we are recommending the Cruzer 1.0 GB USB Flash Drive. You still need a Maxtor Drive or equivalent (last week‘s recommendation). The Maxtor is rather large compared to the Cruzer and not very convenient to take home every day. The Cruzer pictured above is the size of a pack of gum, fits in your pocket, or can be worn around your neck with the included lanyard. It’s cool.
Last week’s Maxtor holds more data than you will probably have in a lifetime. The Cruzer only holds 1.0 GB of data, but it is easy to use and easy to bring home with you. The 1.0 GB of data storage is enough for most pcAmerica customers.
Just plug the Cruzer into a free USB port on your computer. Go to the database you wish to copy, right click the mouse to copy the database, then go to the Cruzer icon appearing under My Computer, right click and paste the data into the directory. A couple of minutes later your backup will be complete.
The Cruzer is simple to use. You can purchase a 1.0 GB Cruzer from pcAmerica for $99. If you have a tech support contract and have purchased the Cruzer from pcAmerica, we would be happy to talk you through the backup procedure. It is real fast and real simple. It is also REAL ESSENTIAL.
New versions of the Cruzer Flash Drives are currently available. A 4.0 GB version goes for about $400. In our opinion, that’s a little bit expensive. Last year, the 1.0 GB Cruzer sold for about $400. In a year, that 4.0 GB version may be selling for about $100. So, for now, we are recommending the 1 GB Version for $100.
So, #1, you need that Maxtor II or equivalent external hard drive to back up your entire computer system. #2...you need the Cruzer Flash Drive or equivalent to back up essential data that you need to take home with you in case of an emergency.
