CobraPOS 478 All In One System
New to pcAmerica, is the CobraPOS 478 from Touch Dynamics is a retail and restaurant hardened all in one system that packs powerful processing into attractive compact casing . Actually, we have been selling one piece systems from Touch Dynamics since the beginning of the year. In the past, we have never been able to justify the price premium for a one piece system vs. a system put together using a computer such as a Dell (or other brand), plus a touch screen monitor, plus a credit card reader, etc. The price premium (the difference in price between a one piece system and a component system) used to be around 50%. The price premium is currently about 20%.
Why pay 20% more to get a 1 piece system? It’s easier to set up, move, and maintain. It has a much smaller form factor. It comes with a touch screen which speeds up transactions. Optional credit card reader, pole display, and CD Rom can easily be attached to the unit. You have increased security with a lockable front cover. The unit comes with 512 MB RAM (recommended for all computer owners,) and plenty of extra ports so you can add up to 4 cash drawers, several printers, and customize the system to meet your exact needs. pcAmerica can also install your software so that all you need to do is turn on your unit....and perhaps one of the biggest advantages for the CobraPOS vs. other one piece systems is that is comes with a Pentium 4 up to 3.0 Ghz making it perhaps the fastest one piece system available.
The CobraPOS is manufactured by Touch Dynamic. Each unit comes with a 3 year warrantee. If service is required, turnaround time is 3 to 5 days. Most computer companies (such as Dell), now only offer a 90 day warrantee. You must pay an additional premium for a 3 year warrantee. Touch Dynamic also offers 60 days of cross shipping service. So, if your unit should fail within the first 60 days, another unit will be shipped to you before your original unit is returned. Most computer failures and problems occur within the first 30 days of ownership. 60 days of cross shipping is a great bonus.
Below are the CobraPOS specs (from Touch Dynamic).

Did You Know That Cash Register Express is the Fastest Cash Register System Available Anywhere?
Who says so? I say so and our customers say so. I am still amazed when I see Cash Register Express in action. Retailers are amazed by its speed, ease of use, and the extremely fast employee training time.
My favorite feature is the end of transaction procedure for taking credit cards. Actually, there is no procedure. In most stores, you use a barcode reader to check out your customers. You checkout, let’s say 5 items. Next, you have to press END TRANSACTION, then press METHOD OF PAYMENT, then press CREDIT CARD, then press TYPE OF CREDIT CARD.
With Cash Register Express, you read the barcode on each of the 5 items (less than a second each). If someone has a credit card, you do nothing (well almost nothing). You need to scan the credit card through the credit card reader. Cash Register Express automatically ends the invoice, selects the method of payment, ends the transaction, gets the transaction authorized, and prints one or two copies of the receipt.
It’s amazing. If you don’t have this feature turned on through setup, you need to try it. I get more excited watching this than …… (I leave the rest of the sentence up to you).
Another great feature is called drill down. Let me give you an example. Let’s say you have a grocery store or supermarket. You can’t put a barcode on Apples (and other items). With drill down and a touch screen, you do the following. Press Fruit on your touch screen. A drill down menu appears showing you different types of fruit. Press Apple. Another menu appears with several type of Apples. Press the correct apple, for example, Macintosh, and finish the transaction. You may need to enter the quantity or the weight. Or, if a scale is attached, the weight automatically appears.
A supermarket, or let’s say a hardware store frequently uses drill down with a touch screen. Cash Register Express let’s you customize your screen so you can check out items which cannot be easily bar coded. Fruits, vegetables, screws (in a hardware store), small inexpensive gift items are all examples of items that you may not wish to barcode, but you do wish to accurately count within your inventory.
Drill down allows you to enter general classes of the items. Once you enter the classes, drill down allows for subclasses. Under the subclasses, you enter the item numbers. Drill down is also great in restaurants. With a touch screen, the process is all instant.
Drill down can also work without a touch screen, However, having a touch screen makes it multiple times faster and more convenient.
